Date: 9 Oct. 2013YE Bookstore and the Consulate General of the Polish Republic in Lviv are pleased to invite you to the presentation of Professor Tadeusz Lubelski’s book Historia nieby?a kina PRL (“The Inexistent History of Poland’s Communist Cinema”) on 9 October. Beginning at 18:00. Tadeusz Lubelski is a Polish historian and film critic, expert in Polish and European film. In 1994 – 2006 he was deputy editor-in-chief of Kino monthly and staff member of Tygodnik powszechny (weekly) and Kinokwartalnik (quarterly). Now he is working at the Institute of Audiovisual Arts of the Jagiellonian University, Krakow. The meeting will be dedicated to the history of non-existent Polish films. Can one create an alternative history and evaluate the films which have never been made? Professor Lubelski gives it a shot. His most recent book contains excellent material on the complex history of Poland, the culture of communist Poland, and prominent Polish film directors’ plans which were never carried out. Working language: Polish. We invite all amateurs of cinematography to Professor Lubelski’s public presentation “Personal space in Polish feature and documentary film of the recent 20 years,” which will take place on Thursday, 10 October, at the Ivan Franko National University.
