YE Bookstore and Vydavnytstvo Staroho Leva Publishing House have the pleasure to invite you to the presentation of Viyna, Sho Zminyla Rondo (The War that Changed Rondo) book by Romana Romanyshyn and Andriy Lesiv. The meeting will take place on February 11.
Beginning at 18:00Poetess, teacher and scientist Bohdana Matiyash is the moderator of the meeting. At the presentation, authors of the book Romana and Andriy will discuss the issue of talking to children about war, peculiarities of children’s and adult perception of reality, priorities and ideas, war, memory, peace and fight. The last year was a very difficult one for Ukrainians. Topics and discussions considered distant and not intended for children have become part of life of Ukrainian families. Everyone wants to protect oneself and one’s children from war and talks about it, but it has become too close to let people turn a blind eye to it. The book created by Agrafka studio is an opportunity to discuss war with children in textual and visual language, not traumatizing and helping to understand the events, to fight and to live through them. Viyna, Sho Zminyla Rondo (The War that Changed Rondo) book tells a story about the city of Rondo populated by fragile and tender creatures. Three friends Danko, Zirka and Fabian are the protagonists of the story. One day war comes to the peaceful city. Misfortune is always unexpected. Nobody has known war, nobody has waited for it, and still it has come to affect every Rondo inhabitant. This book teaches readers that the war can be won only by united actions and everyone may become a real hero. Still, every war leaves deep scars in the end. This book can be a beginning of a serious talk with children (or with oneself) about the events in Ukraine and elsewhere in the world. It is also a wonderful story always leaving a place for hope and optimism. *** Address: YE Bookstore Lysenko str., 3 Free admission. Media partner: The Ukrainian Week.
