YE Bookstore and LA “DISCURSUS” have the pleasure of inviting you to the presentation of Olha Derkachova’s novel Kramnytsia shchastia (“The Happiness Shop”) on Tuesday, 22 October. Beginning at 18:00. It turns out you can just go and buy happiness from a store. At least, so says Olha Derkachova, the author of the novel The Happiness Shop, recently published by the Literary Agency Discursus. Derkachova’s novel is rather unexpected: light, airy and melancholic, permeated with an eternal theme of love. The love of a student for her teacher. However, all this is just conventions. According to the author, “Love is always love. It is essentially the same. Everything depends only on the wrappings. And students, they take love simply, without any wrapping-paper.” The writer tells the story of The Happiness Shop, “a gifts and presents business, which is just a bright wrapping. Glamorous and pretty on the outside, but inside it can look very different.” Quite predictably, not everyone can buy happiness. For some, it will remain forever unattainable, distant, illusory.” Please check out the video from the Ivano-Frankivsk presentation here. Olha Derkachova is an associate professor at the Pedagogical Institute of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, member of the National Writers’ Union of Ukraine, author of short stories collections Syndrom pidsnizhnyka (“The Snowdrop Syndrome”) and Za londonskym chasom (“London Time”) and research papers Literaturna kazka Velykobrytanii (“The Literary Fairy-Tale in Great Britain”) (as a co-author), Kontseptsia svitu v lirytsi Arkadia Kazky (“The Concept of the World in Arkadii Kazka’s Lyrical Poetry”) and Svit u teksti (“The World in Text”). Derkachova holds the Ivan Franko Award from the municipality of Ivano-Frankivsk.***
