YE Bookstore and Tempora Publishers are happy to invite you to the presentation of Olha Kovalevska’s book Ikonohrafia Ivana Mazepy v obrazotvorchomu mystetstvi XX – pochatku XXI st. (“Ivan Mazepa’s Iconography in Fine Arts, 20–21 Century”) on 5 December. Beginning at 18:00. The book represents a research into Ivan Mazepa’s iconography, carried out on the basis of analysis of more than a thousand various pictures, which allowed to identify authentic portraits and images made in Mazepa’s lifetime, as well as portraits specially painted in the early 20th century with the view to creating a positive image of this historical figure as a statesman, diplomat, and patron of arts. Mazepa’s Iconography also studies how the contemporary Ukrainian artists used iconographic sources and their predecessors’ ideas to create their own version of Mazepa’s image.
